Cadfil Filament Winding Software Technology

All Cadfil software operates on standard PC hardware using Windows Software. For further details on the various options, see the links below.

Cadfil Feature Matrix — Cadfil Software Matrix: This software feature matrix shows which features are included with the different versions of Cadfil, as well as which optional extras can be applied to the different versions.

Cadfil Axsym — Cadfil-Axsym: This can generate winding programs for all rotationally symmetric parts including pipes, spheres, gas bottles, storage tanks… endless possibilities. With all the parametric features of Lite+ & PipeWinder+ it also features the interactive mandrel editor, CAD import & user controlled fibre path steering using the friction.

Cadfil Lite — Cadfil-Lite+ : This offers many of the advantages of the more powerful CADFIL-Axsym package with quick and simple parametric programming for the more common filament winding geometries including pipes, tubes, poles, gas bottles and storage tanks.

Cadfil Pipewinder — Cadfil Pipewinder+ : This system includes all the tools for standard pipe making with helical, hoop winding, ribs & joining paths. These are all parametrically defined & complete multiple layers programs can be generates and modified very quickly. This includes full 3D viewing & fully configurable winder interfaces.

Cadfil Finite Element — Finite Element Modelling :Manually setting up material thickness & angles data for wound components is very time consuming so automating the task is important. Cadfil outputs Shell, laminated solid or full 3D solid models either based on an internally defined mesh or mapped to and imported mesh. Models include load cases & boundary conditions.

Cadfil Pole Design — Cadfil Pole Design : This module calculates bending defections (and other properties) for tapered poles or masts manufactured by filament winding. There are a number of different loading cases. This software can be used in conjunction with the Cadfil tube stress analysis

Cadfil Elbow — Cadfil Elbow : This winding software can be purchased as part of the Cadfil-Axsym package or as a stand-alone module. In either case all the advanced graphics features of the Cadfil package are available for displaying machine positions and viewing winding paths. Standard bends & complex bends can be made in the Multibend Duct option.

Cadfil Sphere — Cadfil-Sphere : Rapid & automated development of ultra-high performance spherical pressure vessels with many layers. Near constant thickness & quasi-isotropic properties can be achieved. Spheres & hemispheres have also been successfully used in ballistic protection applications. This includes full 3D viewing & fully configurable winder interfaces.

Cadfil Spar — Cadfil Spar : This program is part of the non-axisymmetric suite of programs for complex winding geometries. The user defines the (constant) cross section of the mandrel using 2D lines and Arcs in a CAD system such as AutoCAD. This cross section information is written to a DXF file which is then read by Cadfil to create the 3D mandrel surface.

Cadfil Tube Stress Analysis — Cadfil Tube Stress Analysis : This module allows design analysis of composite tubes using strength of materials, laminate analysis an other analytical tools. A low cost and simple to use tool to aid with filament winding design. This module includes a material database of properties for filament wound materials.

Cadfil Tee — Cadfil Pipe T : This design module allows winding paths to be created for parametrically generated T mandrels.
